I have shown you my hobby area, pictures from my club as well. And just by browsing through this blog you will know I love this hobby. Creativity, thinking outside the box, learning and understanding, these are just some of the things we get from this hobby. I have friends in other countries due to my hobby.
What some of you may not know....I am a bit deeper into this hobby. If you play WARLORD made by Reaper Games or if you play NUCLEAR RENAISSANCE by Ramshackle Games then you will find my name under the credits for playtesting. And right now I am awaiting some rules from 2 others to playtest. More will be revealed here on my blog.
And the last game(s) I played was actually nothing to do with zombies. We had a 1 day tournament with 8 players...DREADBALL. I won 1 match and lost the other 2, but it was really fun. Loved that it could be done in a day.
Just got some bits from Ramshackle games. Perfect for some post apocalyptic terrain! So I will be of again, need to get this ready to playtest. It ALWAYS improve on the gaming experience if it is painted!!!!!

Didn't it mention in the bible that "the geek will inherit the earth!" Sorry, I might have misheard that. Anyway, I'm a geek and proud of it. I see nothing wrong in reveling in geekdom. Geeks are such nice people.SvarSlet
I've done some play-testing as well, Johnny, and I know what a thrill it can be.
Ha! Good one! For what it's worth, I have a Master's degree in Christian theology and am something of a biblical scholar, so I can tell you with some degree of confidence that "geek" is a reasonable translation of the original Greek text. Lol!Slet
Happy to admit I am a nerdy geek of epic proportions.SvarSlet
Same here but literally epic proportions!Slet
I can vouch for what Fran just said!Slet
Other than not liking Simon Pegg the quote is fitting and times have indeed changed over the years. I've been through the whole gamut of painting "MIniatures", "figures" and now "toys" (let's be honest that's what they are).SvarSlet
Your Dreadball team is revolting btw (in a good way), but it's a game I've never played, though I've always really enjoy Bloodbowl (and still do !).
Yep Geek here as well and agree 100% with everything you've mentioned. Shall have to have a chat with you regarding Across the Dead Earth as well once we've read through the beta rules. :DSvarSlet
Thanks for this post. I remember those days, years ago, when this hobby carried a level of shame with it. Not sure if I've just gotten older and don't care or if we've gained more mainstream acceptance, but either way, I'm proud to be geeked about this stuff. : ) And grateful for the friends along the way.SvarSlet
I never really liked labels for people. "Geek", "nerd", "jock" and so on are all very one-dimensional; they claim to know all about you and that's rarely the whole truth.SvarSlet
Back to earth - I must make some progress painting my own Dreadball teams. After all, I won't be able to play the game until I've done this!
Hah, I'm with Colgar on this one. I have never really thought of myself as a geek or a nerd. I am horrible in maths and I can't say I care about what you could label as a typical "geeky" stuff. I'm a wargamer. Hura! Hura! :DSvarSlet
