Whisky, nerdness and bits for Gravesend

Late posting this time. But it really does not bother me. I would like an update once a week on this blog. And so far it keeps on schedule. I have had a lot of stuff to take care of in this last week. No painting what so ever. Hobbywise I have not been idle...Though not with zombies or survivors.

This table shows of some of the golden drops that I have tasted. A whisky event from the guys of Duncan Taylor Whisky. Both Euan Shand and the legend in whisky Mark Watt were our hosts. Their love of whisky really shines through. 120 attended this event including me and a very good friend of mine Jesper. An absolutely brilliant way to spend an evening!!! And I only bought two of them. Would have loved to buy more but Lone would most likely have killed me...

Down at my local club we had a very enjoyabble Saturday! 3 different kinds of cake, good company and battles! The picture above is from one of my battles of GRUNTS in 15 mm scale. Easy rules and still good game dynamics. I actually had a 15 mm army just lying around.....

Just to give you a feeling of some of the work being done! Jesper, whom I went to the Whisky event with is the one in the middle. He is damn good at converting the miniatures!!!

Over at Board of the living lead forum one of the guys pointed me in the way of this company. Achesons Creations. Based in United States. I have been in dire need of some obstacles to put in Gravesend and this seemed to fit the bill.

I have added some zombies to give you an idea about scale. So far having looked it over, no bubbles, no extra resin to be cleaned of. It simply amazed me for the price at what I was getting! You can be sure to see it again here on my blog when I have painted it. There is more stuff from them that I want so it will not take me long time to send for a new order! This lot in the picture cost me $9.50. The P&P cost me $12 !!! A mate of mine may want something too so this time the P&P may be split in two. It took just under a week to arrive. That is pretty good from USA to Denmark!

Now it is a lazy sunday.... I may try to paint up some of the above mentioned terrain...Or some 15 mm sci-fi.... Or just watch a zombie movie..... Take care out there.....

  2. They're made of resin, not even plastic?

That is dirt cheap then, i saw 50 cents for the bins and was wondering where the catch is.

I, myself would rather see those in pieces, but for the price, they should be on my to-get list. Always good to have something to fill the streets with.

That whiskey part of the hobby seems...interesting, lol, nice to see you had a great time :)

  4. I do like the Acheson scenery pieces you bought, Johnny. Perfect filler for a post apocalypse board like your Gravesend set-up.

I'm not a fan of spirits, so if you're in a sharing mood you can have my glass. I had to smile at the fact that Joe can so accurately recall the last time that he had a drink of whiskey!

  5. Sounds like a great event. A whiskey party.:) My wife has TupperWare parties. Maybe I should start a company hosting Whiskey parties for the husbands.
Love those obstacles. I need some tire stacks.

  6. Hmm? Not really a fan of whiskey, unless its got Jack Daniels on the front! Nice stuff from Achesons, they do some nice FIW stuff as well, I sent them several emails asking questions about the figures, got no reply, so afraid they can kiss it!!

    1. Jack Daniels is a bourbon and not a whisky. But each to his own and I will not hold that against you. Much.... ;-)

  8. Thats a lot of nice eye-candy Lord Siwoc. CAn I ask though, those 15mm tower blocsk for sci fi gaming? I remember someone sending me a link to the company that makes them but I've gone and lost it. Can you remember who they are? I've been meaning to pik up that card terrain set for ages.

It is my mate Kim who made them. They are brilliant and fold neatly when you are not using them.

  9. Nice stuff your Lordship.I found a place called Dreamholm at a show in the early spring they had some nice scenary, but I don't think they were as cheap as yours. I must check them out.
I'm not a spirits man at all, whisky in particular makes me ill (eek). I love the way this community gets little glimces' of each others lives. Keep it up.

  10. Cracking scenery there Johnny. Quite a bargain when you work out what it cost per piece its still only a few dollars per terrain piece even if you include shipping!

  11. The Gruntz game looks great. 15mm is very appealing, but there isnt a hope in hell that I would start yet another scale.

Those obstacles are great value, I must pick up a few myself.
